It’s a lovely sunny morning in Baldock, Hertfordshire…which made reach for the sketchbook to work out a new design. So I decided to work on a design for St Patricks Day, and was quite surprised to learn that the plant we think of as Shamrock is actually one or two different plants of the clover family. It seems that the closest to the ‘Shamrock’ I have in mind is actually Trifoilum repens, or White Clover (sometimes known as Dutch Clover) So, after doing a bit of research and a quick sketch over a cup of tea, I’ve decided that this little underrated ‘weed’ is really rather beautiful, and will definitely make it into my St Patricks Day Design.
